About Maryann Bruce

Maryann Bruce has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the financial services industry and is widely recognized for her ability to translate strategy into disciplined execution. She is known for fostering strong board–management partnerships and guiding organizations through complexity and change with sound judgment, integrity, and clarity. An accomplished board director, former senior executive, and trusted advisor, Maryann works closely with boards and executive teams to strengthen governance, enhance oversight of strategy and risk, and drive sustained organizational performance—particularly in regulated and transformational environments.

Experience

Maryann currently serves as an Independent Director at Amalgamated Financial Corporation and Amalgamated Bank (NASDAQ: AMAL), where she chairs the Enterprise Risk Oversight Committee and is a member of the Executive, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Audit Committees. She is also an Independent Director and Nominating & Governance Chair for ASA Gold and Precious Metals Fund, Ltd. (NYSE: ASA).

Maryann is a co-founder of the Empower Her Fund, which holds a 25% minority ownership stake in the Carolina Ascent Football Club, and she acts as the fund’s board representative to Empowerment Sports Entertainment, the club’s holding company.

Maryann’s prior board service includes Independent Director roles at NextPoint Financial, where she chaired the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and helped guide the company through a strategic review, restructuring, and going-concern sale, and MBIA (NYSE: MBI), where she served on the Audit and Compliance and Compensation and Governance Committees.

Her additional governance experience includes service on the boards of Atlanta Life Financial Group, Allianz Global Investors, and PNC Funds. Earlier in her career, Maryann was a Fortune 100 Division President & CEO, leading organizations ranging from start-ups to large global enterprises. Her executive background spans enterprise risk management, strategy, marketing, and business transformation, enabling her to bring a practical, operator’s perspective to boardroom discussions and governance challenges.

Maryann has been recognized as one of Directors & Boards’ “20 Accomplished Female Board Members in Directors to Watch” and named to U.S. Banker’s list of “The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking.” She is a founding member of the NACD Carolinas Chapter, a former Chair of the C200 Foundation and Wrestle Like A Girl, and currently serves on the advisory boards of Divershefy and the Directors Development Initiative. Maryann holds the CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from NACD and Carnegie Mellon University and earned a B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Duke University.
