Callie Le Renard, Ph.D., is a freelance writer, editor, and academic based in Washington, DC and Hampshire County, WV. She has almost two decades of experience in higher education and spent seven years with the Department of Defense at National Defense University (NDU) designing, facilitating, and analyzing strategic level tabletop exercises, scenarios, and wargames on topics such as irregular warfare/political warfare, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and the foreign acquisition of U.S. firms for senior military officers, civil servants, and international partners and allies.
Callie was an Adjunct Professor at NDU’s Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy where she taught core courses on economics and industry analysis in the Master of Science in National Resource Strategy program. She also taught classes on quantitative research methods while completing her PhD at George Mason University.
She has spoken frequently at defense and strategy conferences, courses, and workshops on energy security, environment/climate change, and international political economic issues such as international trade with China and the efficacy of economic sanctions on Russia. While completing her dissertation, Callie spent nearly three years as Managing Editor of Foreign Policy Bulletin.
Callie has a PhD from George Mason University, and her dissertation examines how Russia has impacted the development of a common European energy security policy through case studies of six member states which represent a variety of perspectives on integration and relations with Russia. She also has an MPP from Pepperdine University, and a BA in philosophy from California State University, East Bay. She is a member of ACES: The Society for Editing and is a Poynter/ACES certified copy editor.
She has recently completed a full draft of her first novel and is pitching it to literary agents while revising her work.
